Part of the College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative, The Yard and Rutgers Academic Building provide services to not only to the students of the Rutgers University - New Brunswick campus, but also the general public as well.

The Yard at College Avenue:
Serving as the new “front porch” for the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus, this 14-story, U-shaped on-campus apartment building features 16- single-bedroom apartments (up to four bedrooms per unit) can house 465 students. Riddled with common areas, The Yard features a two-level sky lounge on the top floor where students have views of the New York City skyline, a 25,000-sq.ft. public green space which; and moveable outdoor seating with a 320-sq.ft. LED outdoor monster for sporting and cultural events. Retail space, mainly featuring various types of restaurants are located on the main floor of the building.


Rutgers Academic Building:
The first academic building to be constructed on the College Avenue campus since 1961, the Rutgers Academic Building is a state-of-the-art, classically designed, 200,000 sq. ft. academic facility featuring modern lecture halls, various classroom sizes, informal learning spaces and also conference and office spaces. The new facility has a seating capacity of 2,500 and is rich with a new technology driven environment which includes Active Learning Classrooms, tech labs, teaching walls, turnable lecture hall seating and other advanced components for modern, interactive teaching and learning opportunities. The exterior areas of the building maximizes open space and provides public spaces for all walks of people. Outdoor ‘rooms’ for collaboration have been created within the stepped pedestrian passage between the two wings of the building; this connected Voorhies Mall at Seminary Place to the northern end of the New Brunswick campus.
